Due to the amount of time it took for the interior demolition and clearing of the spaces, we were unable to post a blog in November for Chateau Ridge, but that just means that December is SO much better!
Interior demolition is done. The siding, roof, gutters and downspouts, windows and the French door has been replaced. The exterior, with the exception of the front entrance and back porch, is complete! Also, the trees have been cleaned up to make the exterior more attractive; just in time for the holidays!
On the interior: The interior drywall has been gutted and a furnace has been placed in the attic so that the HVAC running from the basement to the second floor can be removed.
The trim has been removed and the major supporting walls between the existing kitchen, dining room and family room have been replaced with a beam and columns to hold the weight of the second floor. We are beginning to see how the spaces can be laid out just by tearing down some walls!
In the revised plan, the room with the fire place is depicted as a formal dining room, but could also be utilized as a formal sitting room, depending on the needs and desires of the client.
Wall to wall hard wood flooring with porcelain tile floors in all restrooms will add value to the house and modernize it as well.
A kitchen layout has been finalized! Ample cabinet space and stainless steel appliances have been chosen and put on order, thanks to Midsouth Building Supply.
All of the bathrooms have been planned as well. Two full baths are located on the second floor, one half bath on the first floor and one half bath in the basement has been added to the plans. This means that the basement can be finished and turned into a functional family / game room with a bar provided by Maryland Wood Countertops.
Additional areas of interest:
We will be adding a large back porch onto the house (when the weather permits) with access from the back lawn and from the kitchen area. We will also be updating the existing concrete entry with a railed-in front entrance.
