March was an extremely productive month for renovation at Chateau Ridge.
Let’s start in the basement and work our way upstairs.
The basement door has been replaced, allowing for natural sunlight to enter into the space and brighten it up, despite the lack of lighting that is currently there. The wiring for the lighting is run though!
The basement pony wall for the bar-top is complete and there is a water hook-up so that the new owner can decide whether they would like it to be a wet bar or not.
The basement bathroom has been delivered and the tile has been set, so the vanity, sink, toilet and towel rings can be set up!
The walls and ceiling have been primed and painted a very light shade of white in order to contrast the fact that the space is underground.
What a change since last month!
On the first floor, all new hardwood floors have been put in and are going to be stained and finished to match the flooring throughout the house. This means that once the floors are finished, the cabinets can start to go in, along with appliances so that there will be a functioning kitchen soon! The sinks, faucets and first floor restroom fixtures have been delivered and are awaiting their installation.
The walls have all been patched, bulkheads have been reduced to their minimum size, and all of the electrical and plumbing has been run for a main kitchen sink and an island prep-style sink and a refrigerator. New pendant lighting has been ordered to contribute to the contemporary style that we are aiming for throughout the house.
Man, are we getting excited!
On the stairs and the second floor, the existing hardwood flooring is being sanded down and finished to match. The two bathrooms (master bath and hall bath) both have new vanities, sinks and faucets that will be set up once the tile flooring is complete as well.
As of right now, before the snow hit, we are planning on having the Chateau Ridge project completed within 60 days. That was a quick turn-around, especially since we have ultimately used it as a place-filler while other renovation projects have been a little slow during the winter months.
Later this week, the flooring will be finished and complete so further work and installation can occur. How remarkable!
