October has been a busy month of deconstruction and preliminary design for the Chateau Ridge Renovation project. Who doesn’t love a good cleaning and sprucing?!
On the interior:
The house has been cleaned out and measurements were taken for as-built drawings so that initial design may commence!
Major goal for the interior: create more open spaces, both visually and physically. The existing floor plan has six distinct areas within the layout, however, it appears choppy and no mixed-use space is available. By opening the kitchen and dining areas, dinner parties and entertainment are functionally easier, especially with the adjacency to a living space. With Baltimore Fallen Lumber and Maryland Wood Countertops working together, we can guarantee that custom accents are being taken into consideration.
On the exterior:
Trees and shrubs are being pruned and / or removed from the site to allow sun exposure on the front of the house and into the spacious backyard. The existing front patio was cracked and sunk below grade, so it is being removed and a wooden porch entrance is in the works. The front porch will enhance the pictorial appearance and structural stability of the main entry.
There is no current connection between the garage and the entrance to the house through the existing “mud-room”. This is another aspect of the exterior work that we will be taking into consideration very soon, along with the current lack of back porch / means of egress from the sliding glass door off of the kitchen.
Before the cold winter months hit, the plan is to be completely done with demolition on the interior and to have the exterior refinished in new siding and a new roof. We have our work cut out for us with this quickly changing weather!
Interested in the pricing and budget for this project? We will be going through each room and showing a before and after of its design and use with a price tag. Stay tuned for updates!
